Economic & Planning Systems is pleased to announce the promotion of Ashleigh Kanat to Principal. Ashleigh is an integral member of the Oakland Office’s senior team, bringing significant expertise in preparing and evaluating real estate market and financial feasibility pro forma analyses, urban revitalization and economic development strategies, public financing and implementation plans, and economic and fiscal impact analyses. Her current high-profile projects include market and fiscal work on the San Mateo and Sausalito General Plan updates, UC Hastings Campus Housing Developer Solicitation, infrastructure public finance in San Luis Obispo, childcare funding strategies in San Carlos, ferry feasibility analysis in Solano County, and real estate asset strategic planning for the Alameda Unified School District. Ashleigh also works extensively with private sector clients, providing advisory services and technical studies related to land use planning and project feasibility.

Ashleigh is active in professional organizations such as Lambda Alpha International, SPUR, and CREW and volunteers with the Urban Land Institute’s UrbanPlan program.  She has a B.A. from Smith College and a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at U.C. Berkeley.

Since joining EPS in 2007, Ashleigh’s experience has grown to include all aspects of the firm’s practice areas, and she has made notable contributions to the company and its clients. Ashleigh has earned the respect of her colleagues through her thoughtful analytic work, creativity, and dedication. In her new role as Principal, Ashleigh will maintain her focus on her practice but also will increase her attention to firm-wide management and strategy.
