The Tahoe Douglas Visitor’s Authority sought to broaden the South Shore’s visitor appeal beyond its traditional summertime, skiing, and gaming market segments, with a year-round venue adjacent to the casinos in Stateline, Nevada.  EPS estimated the impact the Event Center would have on the number of visitors to South Shore and their spending in area hotels, shops, and restaurants.  In addition to the tax revenue from visitor spending, EPS also worked with Douglas County to estimate the costs of providing incremental municipal services to evaluate the net fiscal impact.  The economic impacts of construction and operations were also calculated using input-output modeling software. EPS Managing Principal, David Zehnder recently presented the findings of EPS’s analysis to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, as reported in the (Carson Valley) Record-Courier.
