Southern Marin Fire Consolidation Study

State statutes require that Municipal Service Reviews (MSRs) be prepared by each county Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) to assess the provision of local services in each county. One outcome of the MSR prepared in Marin County was the decision to proceed with a study of a potential consolidation of fire protection services in southern Marin County. EPS assisted this process by preparing a feasibility analysis focusing upon the potential cost savings of consolidating three fire protection entities, compared to the additional costs from reconciling different pension plans.
