Stapleton Airport Reuse Market Study

Denver, CO

The Stapleton Development Corporation has produced a unique redevelopment plan for the 4,700-acre former Stapleton Airport site located in the City of Denver. A key development goal was to create a sustainable and environmentally sensitive community. The plan identified community planning, architectural, and building development options that would promote the development of a pedestrian-friendly mixed use community that would be energy efficient and conserve non-renewable resources. Leading a team of consultants, EPS prepared a study of the market support for environmentally sound residential development and film studio activities at Stapleton. The study involved developing a systematic definition, or taxonomy, of "green" development and a realistic assessment of the market acceptance and financial implications of its constituent parts. A part of this process involved profiling 10 to 15 communities or projects that incorporated environmentally sound building techniques. Finally, EPS analyzed the film/television industry in the Rocky Mountain region to estimate future demand and facility requirements and the potential for capturing additional growth in this sector at Stapleton.
